The press release follows:
Media Release – ThunderCats fans beware, LYNXANA THE HUNTER is on the loose! Dynamite Entertainment and Warner Bros. Global Consumer Products today announce further details on the ThunderCats #1 premium mystery blind bag and its exciting standout inclusion!
Available in stores this coming November 4, ThunderCats diehards as well as new readers can pick up the exciting blind bag release for the series debut. Not only does every bag contain a copy of ThunderCats #1 by the superstar creative team of Greg Pak (Batman/Superman, Planet Hulk) and David Cousens (Cheetara: Worldbreaker), but a huge surprise exclusive comic book!
ThunderCats: Lynxana #1, written by Nate Cosby (Cheetara: Worldbreaker) and illustrated by Sebastián Píriz (Speed Racer, Johnny Quest), features the first modern comics appearance of its titular character. Lynxana is a ThunderCat bounty hunter that hunts other ThunderCats. She was created for the first-ever comic series starring the protectors of Third Earth, originally published in the 1980s by Marvel Comics concurrently with the original animated television show. Lynxana was the ultra-rare comics-exclusive creation who did not appear in the cartoon — nor any subsequent comics to this point. Her debut in ThunderCats #4-6 by writer David Michelinie and artist Jim Mooney introduced her as an exiled ‘Cat who has now become a bounty hunter who hunts them down.
It’s been 40 years since fans last saw her, and many may be meeting her for the first time, as she’s back on the hunt and sneaks her way into ThunderCats #1 in this unexpected way!
Lynxana’s story will continue in a to-be-announced direct sequel releasing February 2027! Then she will crash into the flagship series as well as the companion ongoing ThunderCats: Cheetara by writer Saladin Ahmed (Wolverine, Daredevil) and artist Andrea Arcari. This can’t-miss chapter sets up one of the foremost foes for this exciting new era!
The essential chapter also includes an appearance by a fan-favorite of the SilverHawks squad, Bluegrass!
Eisner-nominated writer Nate Cosby is the mastermind packager and editor behind the entire Dynamite era of ThunderCats comics. He’s joined by artist Sebastián Píriz, who both illustrates and colors this stunning work. The rising star behind Johnny Quest and a string of Ben 10 covers also contributes a cover here.
“We snuck a Western into the ThunderCats universe,” writer Cosby said. “A distress call gets sent out from a shady planet that’s home to the roughest bounty hunters in all the galaxy. Bluegrass (of SilverHawks) goes to answer the call, but gets shot down before he can even begin to investigate. What, and WHO, he finds on that planet, is gonna impact the ThunderCats comics franchise for years to come.”
Collectors can also get alternate variants of Píriz’s cover art in black and white, without trade dress, and with a special ThunderCats logo.
In addition to the Lynxana #1 guaranteed in every bag, fans will get copies of ThunderCats #1 itself by Pak and Cousens, the kickoff for the new flagship of this next phase of stories and a perfect jumping on point. Greg Pak himself has even graced fans with the rarity of his own artwork for a cover that is exclusively available in the bag!
Fans who want to learn more Lynxana can grab her trio of original appearances via the Classic Years reprints available in multiple formats.
Dynamite dares to bring exciting avenues to deliver surprise stories to fans and worthwhile chases and hauls for collectors, and asks fans to #DareToBeDynamite!
