Writer Breyden Boyd and artist Nathan Wells debut The Carvers, a darkly humorous slasher about a foster teen who discovers his new “ideal family” hides bloody secrets. Issue #1 hits shelves February 10, 2027.

Media Release – In writer and filmmaker Breyden Boyd’s debut comic series, THE CARVERS, an orphaned teenager is taken under the wing of The Ideal Family, complete with a manicured lawn, a prestigious mansion—all the works. But the puzzle pieces aren’t falling in the places that we expect, and there’s a different picture forming. In fact, it’s quite the family portrait, far from pristine and splattered with blood.

Breyden Boyd elaborates, “I’ve been working on The Carvers for the last few years. It’s the passion project I never gave up on and the subject of a lot of late-night-turned-early-morning writing sessions. Like any good slasher, it’s been waiting in the shadows for the right time to strike. That time is now. We couldn’t be more excited to let it loose upon the world. Breyden Boyd is a writer and filmmaker from Norman, OK. The Carvers is his debut comic book series, before which he produced independent works through his imprint, Shape Comics. Nathan Wells is an artist based in Waco, Texas. While studying art and graphic design at Texas Tech University, Nathan began his career by working as the editorial cartoonist for The Daily Toreador. Nathan has since produced work in self-published comics “Lawbringer” from Plus Waco Comics, “The Adarvaan” written by Jason Heriford and “88 Days of Hell” written by Anthony Del Col and published online by Insider in 2022.
